NoVa Synchro Wins Four Golds; Places Four Athletes on All-Potomac Valley Teams
At the April 19 Potomac Valley Association Championships, NoVa Synchro qualified six routines for next month's regional meet, which serves as the final qualification meet for Age Group Nationals in June, and registered wins in four events. Sofie Ravesteijn and Julie Calvert were named to the 13-15 Age Group All-Potomac Valley Team, while Kathleen McLean and Kelsey Momoi earned spots on the Senior All-Potomac Valley Team. NoVa Synchro Wins Gold in 16-17 Age Group Trio, 13-15 Intermediate Duet at Spring Fling
NoVa Synchro debuted their 16-17 Age Group Trio with exceptional success at the March 22 Spring Fling meet, as Kathleen McLean, Marie O'Shaughnessy and Lauren Wengrovitz posted the highest routine score of the entire meet to take first place. Joining in on the gold-medal action were Courtney Gistaro and Marissa Ramsey, who took top honors in the 13-15 Intermediate Duet competition. NoVa Synchro Continues Record-Breaking Streak at Senior South Zone Championships
The 13-15 Age Group swimmers continued their attack on the team record books at the Senior South Zone Championships, where they scored a 71.583 in the team routine competition to break the club's record score in that event, which was previously held by the same swimmers in January. The trio of Julie Calvert, Sofie Ravesteijn, and Morgan Shotwell broke the club's record in the trio routine for the third time this season, and also posted a qualifying score for next year's Senior Zone Championships in their exhibition swim. Kathleen McLean and Kelsey Momoi teamed up to turn in the club's third record-setting performance, when they finished 18th to register the club's highest-ever finish in the duet event at the Senior Zone Championships. NoVa Synchro's Intermediate and 11-12 Age Group Athletes Nab Silver Medals
NoVa Synchro's younger athletes joined in on the team's success in routine competition at the February 22 Have-a-Heart meet in Laurel, MD. The 11-12 Age Group team routine and the 13-15 Intermediate duet routine each finished second in their respective competition divisions at the meet which drew athletes from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia. NoVa Synchro Turns in Record-Breaking Performance at South Zone 13-15 Age Group and Junior Championships
NoVa Synchro traveled to Irving, TX February 6-8 to battle athletes from Texas, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia for 10 championship titles. The 13-15 Age Group trio of Julie Calvert, Sofie Ravesteijn, and Morgan Shotwell re-set the club record score for trios in their fifth place finish while pacing the 13-15 Age Group team's fourth place finish. NoVa Synchro Sweeps Gold Medals in 13-15 Age Group Routines at Opening Routine Meet; McLean and Momoi qualify for Senior Zones
NoVa Synchro sent 7 of their top athletes to the 2009 Senior Association/13-15 Age Group meet, where the team dazzled the judges with their technical execution and refined choreography. The 13-15 Age Group athletes earned gold medals in duet, trio, and team, while in the Senior category, Kathleen McLean and Kelsey Momoi earned a qualifying score for the 2009 Senior Zone Championships. NoVa Synchro Starts 2008-2009 Season with Fall Figure Meet; Gistaro and Block Register Wins
NoVa Synchro sent 13 athletes to the 2008 Fall Figure Meet, where the team showcased the technical skills that they have developed and refined since the start of the season two months ago. Courtney Gistarto came away from her first meet with a gold medal in the 13-15 Intermediate division, while Cassie Block scored top honors in the 10&Under Age Group division.
